Cody's was established in Ballandean by John and Kaye Cody in 1995.
It started as a weekend 'hobby' but has since become a passion, as the couple have seen their dream achieve reality.

They were initially attracted by the charm and heritage of the region. For John however, a keen wine connoisseur, it was the viticultural potential of the area that was the deciding factor in their decision to purchase 65 hectares at Ballandean and to plant an initial hectare of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz grapes.

10 years later the vineyard has enjoyed considerable success. The vineyard is boutique with an emphasis on producing a limited supply of high quality handcrafted wines.

The variety of medals awarded to our wines in recent years would suggest that we have achieved this aim.

  • Australian Small Winemakers
  • Courier Mail Shereton Wine Awards
  • Cairns Wine Show
  • Royal Queensland Wine Awards

Because of the demand we have had in recent years we have supplemented each of our vintages by acquiring small parcels of grapes from other leading growers in our immediate area.

Currently our wine is made under contract at the Sirromet Winery at Mt  Cotton; in Brisbane, where highly awarded Chief Winemaker, Adam Chapman personally oversees each vintage.

All our wines are matured in French and American oak to ensure that we are to maximise the full potential of the quality fruit and extensive ability of our wine maker.
